Abstract

|
|
Thermal injury of the upper extremity may result in loss of a part or all of the limb, contracture, loss of function, which could necessitate long hospitalization and multiple operations. Also the patient´s subsequent inability at work may produce severe social and psychologic problems and loss of economic problems. Therefore, a detailed plan of management is necessitated to control infection, conserve viable tissue, and maintain maximum function.
